Welcome to [Insert Fashion Here]

Ahem Um, is this thing on?

I really wanted this first line to be something incredibly slick, but that's just not how I feel today. I'm excited. Like giddy, squealing, grinning excited. Like I-finally-saw-Paramore-live excited. I can't believe how easily I've been talked (and talked myself) into this, and I can't believe I didn't overthink it out of existence. I won't go on forever about the much bigger internal changes this TinyLetter is symbolic of (I did that here instead).
I'll just begin.

I hope you like it, mom.

And I hope you all do too. The friends and acquaintances I talk to about fashion through Instagram stories, The friends (and complete strangers!) that encouraged this, the people who have no clue what this is about but signed up because a friend told them to. Hi, and thank you.

Welcome to [INSERT FASHION HERE]. If you guessed that this title is the result of a brain fart on the day I opened sign-ups and STILL did not have a name -- after nearly a month of trying followed by subjecting you all to a survey for a week -- you guessed right. I shared the link with what I thought was a funny placeholder: [Insert Name Here]. After a few hours of seeing it pop up on friends' stories (thanks guys!!), that placeholder started to look a little interesting. I swapped out one word, and there it was. [Thank you to all the friends who answered my neurotic messages the day this happened, especially Lameez & Daniël - I owe you one!]

Do I know where this is headed? Absolutely not. All I know is that I will put everything I've got into expanding the fun conversation we have on IG stories into something with a little more oomph, every other Thursday. We'll have fun with fashion through discovery & light analysis. We'll look at articles and Instagram and pop culture and shopping. We'll talk global headlines and money moves and designer musical chairs. We'll cheer for the growth of African fashion and explore it from every corner. We'll get out the popcorn and take in fashion month like it's a movie premiere. I'll occasionally plug my work and hope you like it. We'll take breaks in April, August, & December -- thanks for suggesting seasons Tshego! -- but other than that, si on, ladies & gents.
